Colorado Democrats Rural Initiative
An initiative of the Colorado Democratic Party, which created a Vice-Chair of Rural Outreach position in 2019 to elevate the issues that are of concern to rural Coloradans and give voice to Colorado citizens who live outside of more populated urban regions. Vice-Chair Shelia Canfield-Jones regularly visits rural counties and highlights activities of local Democratic parties. The Rural Initiative goals include promoting economic development in rural areas;
improving access to health care for rural Coloradans; securing broadband access for rural counties; and protecting Colorado’s rural environment while promoting a balanced approach to energy production and natural resource use including water, air and soil.
